The dry season from May to September offers the most reliable weather, with clear skies and minimal rain. June to August is peak season. April and October can be good with fewer crowds but occasional afternoon showers.
It depends on the trek. Day hikes and moderate treks like Santa Cruz are suitable for anyone with reasonable fitness. Challenging treks like the Huayhuash require strong hiking fitness. Mountaineering peaks require varying levels of technical experience — see our Climbing page for specifics.
Huaraz sits at 3,090m, so you're already acclimatising just by being here. We recommend arriving 2-3 days before your trek. We start with easier day hikes to build acclimatisation. All our guides carry medical oxygen and are trained in altitude illness recognition and response.
All trek prices include: certified bilingual guide, cook and camp assistants, all meals during the trek, camping equipment (tents, sleeping mats, dining tent), transport to and from trailheads, park entrance fees, and emergency communication equipment.

We provide all technical and camping gear. You should bring: broken-in hiking boots, warm layers (fleece + down jacket), waterproof jacket, sun hat and sunscreen (SPF 50+), water bottles (2L minimum), headlamp, personal toiletries, and a small daypack. We send a detailed packing list after booking.
